So I will be leaving tomorrow, in the wee, very dark hours of the morning to head down to Myrtle Beach, South Carolina for a nationals tournament for the girls' fastpitch team that I coach.
I'm looking forward to a few days of relaxing and then getting serious with softball - hopefully some butt kickin', the other teams' not ours!!
I fly back into BWI on Friday evening to attend a wedding on Saturday morning. Hopefully our girls will make it to the championship round on Saturday and they can text me with 'we kicked butt don't you wish you were here' comments. I can hope.
I've decided after an emotionally trying season this year, and the one last year, that I'm not going to coach the girls' team next year. I don't get to see my friends. I don't get to have a life on weekends during the summer or even during the winter (due to practices). And I miss my life. It may sound selfish, but I think I'm allowed to do that every now and again, right? There may be a whole 'nother ranting post about this. But I think I want to end on as much of a positive note as possible with the team, and leave all the negative behind in the past.
On a much more positive and exciting note, the weekend of the 15th - 18th I'm going to go down to the ocean with four of my girlfriends for a girls weekend before Candice leaves for Uganda (to volunteer her time with the AIDS organization there).
