Hello everyone! I'm back!!

I managed to survive my cruise down to Bermuda! And I know you are all thinking, how could that be anything but wonderful, but there were a couple rough patches.

We boarded the ship Sunday in Baltimore at the Port. The ship is huge. Huge. The Captain mentioned it was something like 916 feet long. Crazy!! There were 11 stories that the guests had access to. I'm sure that there were other levels that extended below the first deck that the guests were not allowed access to. Crazy. The 11th floor wasn't really a whole deck, it was the Viking Lounge which was a lounge/bar/dance club where most of the adults shook their asses late in the evening.

Sunday was great. We wandered around the ship exploring, laying out by the pool, getting drinks (non-alcoholic for me because I'm the dork who is allergic to alcohol) and listening to some great music poolside.

The main dining area was huge. They had two dinner times (6 p.m. and 8:30) to accomodate all the guests on board. We ended up with the 6 p.m. seating, which was fantastic. Our waiter was this awesome guy from Trinidad named Bishop. Great guy, treated us right, took great care of us ever evening for dinner.

Monday was not so great. You know how I mentioned that the ship was something like 11 stories tall and 916 feet long and some unknown number of feet wide. Yeah, that didn't matter when there were 55 mph winds and 15-20 foot waves that we were hitting.

Ugh

Monday was a bust. Sara (my roommate and my best friend) and I woke up around 11 feeling kinda nauseous, but we thought that it would be a great idea to get some food in our stomach. That plan was great in theory but not so great when we attempted to do so. The boat was rocking so badly that when we got to the 9th deck to get breakfast we weren't able to walk in a straight line. The ship was rocking back and forth from side to side and then randomly we would have the floor drop out from beneath our feet. So we finally get a little bit of something on our plates and head over to find a seat. I'm gone all of two minutes to get something to drink and Sara has disappeared from our table - leaving her food behind. Yeah, she definitely made a mad sprint to the bathroom. And she made it there in time to throw up thanks to the kind staff member that saw her olive skin turning an ashy pale color and the look in her eyes that just screamed I'm going to puke.

We returned to our stateroom and proceeded to sleep until dinner at 6 p.m.

Thankfully the ship had stopped rocking by dinner and we were able to head upstairs to dinner. It was the formal night (Captain's Dinner) and so the ladies all had to wear cocktail dresses and the men were supposed to be in suits or tuxes. Yum, pretty people. I've included a link with a few photos as the bottom. You should be able to see the pictures of us girls from the formal night.

Tuesday we arrived in Bermuda - yay!! My only complaint about the cruise is that we did not have enough time to do everything that we wanted to do in Bermuda. Seriously, we arrived at 10 a.m. on Tuesday and departed at 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday.

Tuesday

We walked around the dockyard in King's Wharf, where we docked, and ended up at the Snorkel Park which was pretty cool. The water in Bermuda is just insane. It is so blue, and so beautiful. You can see the bottom no matter how far out you get. It's certainly a hell of a lot better than the Chesapeake Bay and the Atlantic Ocean in Ocean City. They did have one huge jellyfish swimming around in the Snorkel Park that we had to avoid, but that was the only negative.

We went out on a glass bottom boat / shipwreck snorkel tour in the afternoon. Our tour guide, Kevin, is a fifth generation Bermuda native. He was 22 and hot and of course all of us girls were flirting like crazy (except Sara cause she's married). We went out to the coral reefs, out to two shipwrecks, and got to snorkel there. It was pretty neat cause the first shipwreck happened because the boat was too full and hit the reef. And the second shipwreck happened when the second ship hit the ship that was already wrecked in the reef. Literally, we jumped off the back of the boat and looked down to see the second wreck.

The coral reefs aren't very flashy and full of vivid colors in Bermuda, but they are beautiful and alive and flourishing, and that's really what matters. There were a ton of fish available, and hopefully my underwater camera did it's job and took awesome pictures, we'll see. I still have to drop that off and get it developed. And I'm glad that Kevin warned us that they have jellyfish out there that are little see-through balls that glow around the edges and that do not sting. Because it's a little freaky to look down through your mask and come face to face with a whole herd/group/pack/whatever of jellyfish. They really didn't sting though, you could feel them brush up against you, but no stinging.

The water is hella salty though. Enough to gag a person. I didn't do very good with the whole snorkeling thing. The water wasn't rough, but there were some swells and I kept attempting to drown myself. So I just gave up the whole snorkeling thing and just held my breath and floated on the surface. That turned out to be a better experience and also resulted in less salt water intake and less attempts at drowning myself. Yay!!

Wednesday
Bermuda is famous for having this beach with pink sand and I was very excited that we got to go and see it. From the road, which is up on a cliff, the beach looks pink. When you arrive down at the actual beach, it isn't so pink. But when you really look at the individual grains of sand you are able to pick out the pink grains intermingled with the white ones. And then suddenly, it's like a switch is thrown, you can see the pink hue that the beach has. It's pretty awesome. I stole a little bit of sand from the beach. No one will ever know, right? Customs didn't have a problem with it.

There are some pretty neat caves on the island, but we weren't able to make it to them. The lack of time to do things was a bummer and made you feel completely rushed throughout the trip. If I ever manage to make it back to Bermuda, I will make sure that there is more time to explore and see the sights. Fallon and Sara had mentioned that they wanted to go Parasailing, which would have been awesome for them, but we weren't able to find the time to do it. I was not interested in parasailing because I'm afraid of heights and I didn't want to upset my stomach any more than necessary.

I know that I've not included half of the things that I did, saw, experienced, etc. while on my cruise. I'll probably ocme back and edit this from time to time.

But ultimately I had a great time and would recommend Royal Caribbean cruises to anyone. I would consider, when booking your cruise, that you take into consideration how long you will be cruising and how long you will get to stay at your destination. I would have loved to been able to stay longer in Bermuda and seen all the sights on the Island. But since it took us about a day and a half to cruise down there and then the same to get back, we weren't able to stay as long. The five day cruise was a great amount of time to be on the ship and away from real life. We were talking about doing it again, but this time flying down to Miami and taking a five day cruise out of there. That would give us more island time and less cruising time.

Below is a link to the small amount of pictures that I took. I'm not a big picture taker (that would be Brandy and Alma) so there are only a few. I'll add in more links when Brandy, Alma, Fallon, Sara and Amber upload their pictures.

Cruise Pictures

And for those of you that don't know my real name, it would be Kelley - the redhead. Sara is my best friend. Fallon is a very, very good friend that I have known since I was three. Alma is Sara's friend (that she met originally online but lived 20 minutes from her in real life). Brandy is another girl that Sara met online and that lived 20 minutes from her. Brandy and Alma are good friends. Amd finally, Amber is Brandy's cousin. Hope that clears things up for everyone.

And this concludes my cruise ramblings.

I came home and my fucking laptop was dead. Dead. Dead! That wasn't the welcome home present that I was hoping for. So now I need to figure out if it is really dead or whether it needs help/fixing. So I might be in the market to purchase a new laptop - poop.

But on a happy note, the Sweet Charity auction is ending today, in just a few short hours, and I've got bids!! Bids!! People (other than [livejournal.com profile] satyrnfive) love me!! And don't get me wrong, I'm happy about the [livejournal.com profile] satyrnfive love, but it's nice that other people love me too :) :) :)

And to jinx myself, I appear to be doing well with my bids as well. We'll see. *crosses fingers*

Yay for cruise fun, cute guys and a safe return! (boo for the seasick day)

Sounds like it was a great trip, better than my week of work, work, work, followed by more work.

You know, I think I mentioned one other time you shared a picture, but you look like a cross between a friend of mine from high school and a friend from college and I think that's just neat.

Yeah, I guess, even with the seasickness, I had a better week than most. *sticks out tongue to taunt you*

Seriously though, I am glad to be home.

I'm currently sweating my ass off though. I'm house/pet sitting right now. And the AC unit upstairs in this house is broken - and since my laptop died I couldn't bring it, which means I have to use their computer upstairs. And sweat. Did I mention sweating? Guh!

Yay for look alikes and the freakiness that ensues!

Sounds like it was pretty awesome barring the seasickness. I'm kind of jealous. :)

Good luck with the laptop shopping. And I have to say that I'm glad your back for purely selfish reasons. And mark my words: I will totally own you tomorrow on Sweet Charity.

Thanks for the luck. I've been looking around and I think I'm going to get a Toshiba (sp?) rather than a Dell. My friend has one and got it relatively cheap and loves it. We'll see. God I'm pissed the damn thing died.

Seriously, I've had the computer for about three years and paid $2000 for it. That is one hell of a depreciation rate.

I'm glad to be back as well, and glad that you are glad to have me back.

And you will own me huh? Hmm.... I'm not sure how Lithium Doll is going to run the auction from this point. Honestly I'd like to see her just end the auction instead of running it for another hour at a random time. And yes, I know that you are currently outbid, but don't worry...I have a bit of a surprise for those people that wanted me but couldn't get me up my sleeve. :)

A surprise you say? Would it be you coming down for my birthday and then staying to watch the new SN the next day? I'm sure you could totally swing more time off right after your week off. :)

We could even share a cake or something. That makes it like a money saving deal right?

Man...I suck at waiting for surprises.

My icon makes me want to go get coffee...that is pretty sad.

Um...unless your birthday moved, I don't think it would be possible for me to come down on our birthday and then see the premiere the next night. Isn't the premiere on 10/4?

Although the sharing of the cake would be most awesome! What is your favorite flavor?

The surprise will need to wait until after the Sweet-Charity auction has been completely finalized. I'd like to see who is going to win me, how it is going to be handled, etc. But until then, patience grasshopper!

Yeah...no ability to bend the space/time continuum. For some reason I thought it started on the 27th. Darn it.

As far as cake goes I like most of it as long as it doesn't involve coconuts. Ice cream cake is the best though. :)

Oh yeah...I meant to say 'Holy Crap!' about a 2000 computer with no staying power.

Yeah - I am more than a little pissed about that. But I just purchased a Toshiba laptop from Best Buy - in total (including the warranty thing) for $835. And it appears that this laptop kicks my old dead laptop's ass in just about everything. The only down side is that it has Vista and I've never dealt with that before. I guess there will be a learning curve...

My mom's new computer has Vista and from what I've seen I really don't like it. Hopefully my current computers last a long time.

*tackles* Hiya!

Sorry the first day was a bust but at least the trip got better! I love cruises because I could eat whenever I wanted and that's important to me.

Sorry to hear about your lappy but soon get you to smell that new car...er...laptop smell. ;)

*rolls around with you* Hi Hi back at ya!

Yeah, I was anxious about the cruise, but it turned out (except for Monday) to be absolutely wonderful. I had a blast. I only wish I could have been in Bermuda for longer.

I have no idea what it is about that whole new car smell, but seriously it is the best smell ever. Ever! They try to sell it with air freshners and stuff, but they just never smell the same. And while my laptop won't have that smell it will have a pretty new-ness to it. Yay!!

LJ ATE MY COMMENT!! *growl*

Sounds like you had one amazing trip and I'm so happy for you! Seasick days/moments are the worst! I had one during my first trip to Maui when we went snorkeling. *shudders* Thankfully I didn't get sick-sick because our instructor was CA-UTE!

I'm jealous that you got to be in warm weather, it's freezing here. Fall has hit and I just want to go lay on a beach!

Bad LJ, no cookie for you!!

Eep, seasickness while snorkeling would be bad. Yeah, when we went snorkeling the boat trip out to the snorkel sight was pretty bad but we didn't get sick (thankfully).

Yeah, our snorkel dude was hot as shit. I wish I could have gotten a picture with him. *le sigh*

Yeah, the warm weather was very, very wonderful!!
