The wide, all consuming, smile never left Mary’s face as she was escorted down the aisle of the tiny Lawrence church. Joyce was positive she’d never seen her big sister this full of happiness, full of love.

The sudden rush of tears to Joyce’s eyes was unexpected but welcome as she watched her Daddy give Mary a kiss on the forehead, giving his eldest daughter away.

Mary gave their Dad a kiss on the check before finally returning her attention to John, as he stood watching her with eyes shining with love.

Joyce had never been so happy for Mary.
