Writer's Block: The Nose Knows

Don't laugh but burning leaves. I know it sounds kinda ridiculous, but it is one of my favorites. There are these assholes that live behind us (in another neighborhood) that burn leaves rather than bagging them or creating a compost pile. Their neighborhood allows fires because they are out of city limits and my neighborhood is in city limits. It doesn't make much sense though because their neighborhood is full of trees and dry brush and they burn leaves in a pile rather than a pit, and I'm pretty sure they are going to burn it all down at some point.
But anyway that smell reminds me of fall and winter and of home. Silly, yes, but I like it.
